Now that licensure is a reality, it is more important than ever to be sure that your therapy practice is meeting the standards of the profession in Arizona, especially in the areas of documentation and legal compliance.  The Board of Behavioral Health Examiners has recognized the importance of staying current in the ethical and legal aspects of your profession, and now requires a minimum of 3 clock hours in this area every two-year renewal cycle. 

There is some level of risk in being licensed in any health profession.  You can manage this risk with the right knowledge and tools.  This seminar will give you what you need to better manage your risk by increasing your knowledge of best practices in your documentation and recordkeeping, and by informing you about the laws and legal processes that are inherent in the practice of psychotherapy.

	The connection between record keeping and legal processes
	The current standards and best practices in client documentation
	The major processes that require specific documentation (informed consent, treatment planning,   progress notes, etc.)
	A detailed review of informed consent along with sample language for each element of the informed consent document
	The legal requirements and options in record keeping
	How to document high risk situations
	How to respond to common legal processes
	The laws and rules of the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners that pertain to recordkeeping and documentation in a clinical practice
	Other state laws and regulations that apply to a clinical practice in Arizona
