Volunteer Members Needed
NASW-AZ relies heavily on the volunteer hours of our members. We have a tremendous group of volunteers who currently work with NASW. However, to advocate for our profession and for our members, we need more volunteers.
Here are some ways that you can get involved:
Conference Committee - Works to plan and organize the statewide conference. The fall conference rotates every other year and is held in Tucson and Phoenix. The conference is scheduled for Phoenix in 2009 and Tucson in 2011.
PACE -- Political Action for Candidate Election
Professional Promotions Committee - The focus is to increase the positive public perception of the profession of social work.
Professional Development Committee - Develops and implements the chapter's continuing education workshop series.
Public Policy Committee - In charge of "Social Work Day at the Legislature". Also responsible for setting the legislative agenda for the chapter. Involvement in this committee can involve as little as reading and responding to e-mail list serves and attending "online" chat room dialogues.
Branch Steering Committees - Branch 1 (Maricopa County) and Branch 2 (Tucson and Southern Arizona) both have steering committees to plan the local Social Work Month Celebration.
Elected Leadership - NASW is governed by a Board of Directors. Members of NASW are elected to the state Board of Directors and serve 2 year terms.
Chapter Committee for Nominations and Leadership Identification - This is similar to a nominating committee. This group works to identify leadership within the NASW membership and prepares a ballot for the election.
If you are interested in being involved in any of the above areas, send an e-mail to chapter@naswaz.com.
